This course is full. 

Held in conjunction with the AGA Clinical Congress of Gasteroenterology and Hepatology, this one-day course will provide gastroenterologists and nurses with the essential information and training to safely and effectively administer sedation for GI procedures, including a review of the basic principles of sedation and hands-on training. Faculty includes a multi-disciplinary team of gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists and gastrointestinal nurses who specialize in the administration of sedation.  Attendees who successfully complete the course and post-course exam will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Course starts at 7:45 a.m. and goes until 3 p.m. Registration and breakfast starts at 6:30 a.m.

   

Learning Objectives:

At the completion of the course, successful learners will be able to:

  • Explain the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of commonly used agents.
  • Describe the physiology of sedation agents and their impact on organ systems.
  • Identify and explain the potential complications associated with sedation/analgesia and how to avoid and manage them.
  • Perform the fundamental skills required for airway management and patient rescue.
  • Demonstrate the skills necessary to safely and effectively administer sedation for GI procedures.
  • Develop risk management strategies in order to minimize complications and potential malpractice claims.

CME Information
The AGA Institute is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The AGA Institute designates this educational activity for a maximum of six AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Refund Policy:

Written cancellations must be postmarked or faxed to the AGA Institute by Dec. 31, 2009. There will be no refunds after this date. Refunds will be processed within 30 days after the meeting. There is a $50 nonrefundable fee for all cancellations.
